An ambulance group that has organized and paid for 3,505 EMS calls in Wayne County in the last year says it may soon need to cut back services unless they receive more funding. The Palmyra, Paupack, and Hawley (PPH) Ambulance Association, a nonprofit formed by the three municipalities to ensure reliable EMS coverage, was in attendance at last week’s Wayne County Commissioners meeting to discuss the funding imbalance.

Cover Crop Reimbursement Program Available in Wayne
Wayne County is offering reimbursement for cover crops planted on fields that would normally be bare after harvesting. Wayne Conservation District announced that fields producing an annual crop such as corn, soybeans, or a commercial vegetable garden can qualify for cover crop seed reimbursement. Officials say cover crops provide soil health benefits, are excellent soil builders, and reduce erosion.
Waymart Attorney Facing September Trial
A Waymart attorney already jailed on assault charges is now headed to trial in the Wayne County Court of Common Pleas. 42-year-old Michael Joseph Farley has been scheduled for a jury trial on September 8th for felony aggravated assault, after State Police say he drove his Jeep into a shed on Stanton Drive in Clinton Township in June 2023 and attacked his employee, Stephen Chicoski, with a wrench. Gouldsboro Man Sentenced for Setting Fires in Wayne and Lackawanna Counties
A Gouldsboro man who plead guilty to a string of arsons that occurred in 2023 in Wayne and Lackawanna Counties has been sentenced to 4 to 10 years in prison. 33-year-old Michael Yzkanin was sentenced in Wayne County Court this week after admitting to setting fires that destroyed two vacant buildings in Gouldsboro in April of last year, including the former Gouldsboro Inn. Residents of Wayne County are being warned of an increase in Deed and Real Estate Thefts reportedly taking place in the area.According to the Wayne County District Attorney, there has been a rise in these thefts, which consist of transferring the title to someone’s home without the homeowner’s knowledge or approval.
