Skinners Falls is a scenic and historically significant hamlet in Damascus Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania, located along the Upper Delaware River. It’s best known for its river access, natural beauty, and the now-iconic Skinners Falls Bridge, which has recently become the focus of major infrastructure changes.

🌉 Skinners Falls Bridge: A Landmark in Transition

  • Built in 1901, the Skinners Falls–Milanville Bridge connected Pennsylvania to New York across the Delaware River
  • It was a single-lane, wooden-decked truss bridge, cherished for its rustic charm and historic character
  • Closed in 2019 due to structural concerns, and after multiple inspections revealed critical failures, PennDOT began demolition in March 2025

🛶 River Access & Recreation

  • Skinners Falls is a popular launch and exit point for canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing on the Delaware River
  • During bridge removal, river users are advised to exit upstream at Damascus and re-enter downstream at Narrowsburg
