About $143,000 in Hotel Tax dollars has been allocated to fund events and nonprofit organizations in Wayne County. Applications for funding were submitted to the Wayne County Tourism Promotion Committee and the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau from a variety of integral partners in bringing visitors to the county including downtown partnerships in Hawley and Honesdale, local Chambers of Commerce, as well as nonprofits such as Lacawac Sanctuary and the Delaware Highlands Conservancy. Funding was allocated for 30 groups this year.
